About the VMIVME-3112
VMIVME-3112
This converter module is one that was initially developed by the Fanuc Automation division of General Electric. However, it was then removed from General Electric’s mass production line, and picked up by Abaco Systems as the main producer of these units. The series is now no longer in production, and the available models that are a part of AX Control’s inventory have been completely refurbished and optimized to function in the contemporary industrial work setting of today.
The VMIVME-3112 model in particular is an analog to digital converter unit, or ADC. At the time of production, it was regarded as one of the leading products available, and one of the highest density/lowest cost per channel boards on the industrial equipment market.
The VMIVME-3112 module is designed to house numerous features and capabilities such as the Auto Scanning Mode, which is automatically enabled upon powering up, and the analog to digital conversions on all of the inputs. The converted data is then stored inside of a dedicated channel dual port register. This enables the unit to operate nominally without any programming.
The VMIVME-3112 module is designed with up to 64 single ended and differential inputs. There are also five operational modes for the unit: auto scanning mode, random poll mode, random interrupt mode, scanning poll mode, and scanning interrupt mode. There are capabilities to jumper select scanning of 2 to 64 channels at once.
The VMEbus attachment is able to interrupt upon completion of a single analog to digital conversion, or upon completion of a 16 through 64 channel scan.
