About the VMIVME-5550
VMIVME-5550
The VMIVME-5550 module is a device within the VMIC series of products, an array of converter boards and CPU modules. This series was originally, initially produced by the automated industrial products branch of General Electric, while they were then pulled from their production, and acquired and produced by Abaco Systems. The VMIC modules are all out of production now after being switched between companies. The units that are available from AX Control Inc. are fully refurbished and repaired by our staff of technicians.
The VMIVME-5550 module is a Reflective Memory Interface module, and is designed to share and transfer data up to 16 bits, via an independent VMEbus system node, at a rate of up to 20 megabytes per second. These models can be configured with up to 256 kilobytes, or at most, 4 megabytes of onboard Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory. The local Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory is able to provide the module with fast, high quality Read access times to stored data. The data transfer between nodes is designed to be software transparent, so there is no requirement for input and/or output overhead. The VMIVME-5550 module is designed with the ability to both transmit and receive FIFO buffer data and files during peak data ratings to optimize the CPU and VMEbus performance level and capabilities, in order to maintain the high quality level of data during the transfer.
The VMIVME-5550 module is designed with the multidrop capability of handling up to 16 nodes. There is absolutely no need for any processor overhead or involvement.
