About the VMIVME-7686
VMIVME-7686
This unit is designated as the VMIVME-7686 module of VMIC devices. This entire series was initially developed and manufactured by the industrial automation division of General Electric, however after falling from production by GE, these module were then acquired and produced by Abaco Systems.
The VMIVME-7686 module is a Pentium Pro processor based VMEbus CPU module of the VMIC lineup, and is capable of processing up to 100 megabits of Ethernet, at speeds of up to 180 or 200 megahertz. The internal L2 cache sizes of the Pentium Pro processor is able to fit between 256 to 512 kilobytes of memory.
The VMIVME-7686 module is also equipped and outfitted with Fast/Wide Ethernet, SCSI, and USB interface ports. There is also a Parallel port, Keyboard port, Mouse connection port, and Super Video Graphics Array port.
The VMIVME-7686 module comes with a PMC mezzanine expansion site (an IEEE-P1386 common mezzanine card standard with 5 volts), a VMEbus interrupt handler, interrupter, and system controller modules, and includes byte swapping hardware for both little endian and big endian data interfacing.
The standard VMIC features include options for 10BaseT, 10Base2, and 100BaseTX Ethernet interfaces, PCI Fast/Wide SCSI-2 Controller with Front Panel interface, an on board, enhanced IDE Hard Drive and Floppy Drive Controllers, a pair of high performance 16550 compatible serial ports, enhanced parallel port with ECP/EPP modes supported. There’s a PS/2-Style Keyboard and Mouse ports on Front Panel, Real-Time Clock and Miniature Speaker Included, Universal Serial Bus (USB) on Front Pane.
