This unit is designated as the VMIVME-7697-167 single board computer module. This unit was originally designed and produced by the industrial automation division of General Electric, and then later acquired and produced by Abaco Systems. This module has now been out of production for a while, and is available from the refurbished stock of inventory from AX Control Inc.
The VMIVME-7697-167 module comes with a series of standard features and components, and utilizes a Pentium mark II MMX 500 megahertz processor unit, and is able to handle up to 132 megabytes of Random Access Memory (RAM). The other normal features of the models in this series includes such elements as 8 to 192 megabytes of bootable flash memory on an optional, secondary IDE. There is a set of three, completely programmable and configurable 32 bit timers. There are up to 128 kilobytes of of battery backed SRAM memory.
This unit also includes a software selectable, watchdog timer module, with a reset function. There is also remote Ethernet booting capabilities, and the VMIVME-7697-167 is able to fully support a VMEbus and P2 connection to an HD or floppy drive.
The VME64 modes that the VMIVME-7697-167 can support are the A32, A24, D32, D16, D08 (EO), MBLT64, and the BLT32 mode.
This unit is is designed with a passive heat sink in order to properly vent excess heat safely and efficiently with as minimal damage as possible.
