The VMIVME-7697-550 module in particular is a unit that features several components such as a dual slot VME module, the capability to house up to 512 megabytes of SDRAM memory, and features a Pentium III, 850 megahertz processor unit.
This unit is a Pentium III processor based, single board computer, an SBC. The special features embedded in this module for applications includes between 8 to 192 megabytes of bootable flash on a secondary IDE, which is an optional component. There are a set of three, entirely programmable 32 bit timers.
There are a series of other, standard features, such as the 512 megabytes of SDRAM, utilizing a 144 pin SODIMM, and a 64 bit AGP Super Video Graphic Array controller with 4 megabytes of SGRAM. There is a 100 megahertz system bus, and an on board Fast Ethernet controller supporting 10BaseT and 100BaseTX interface connection.
The VMIVME-7697-550 module is outfitted with a pair of high performance 16550 compatible serial ports, with an enhanced parallel port, able to support both of the ECP and EPP modes. There is a PS/2 style keyboard and mouse ports on the unit’s front panel, and a real-time clock and speaker included.
