About the 169-120N-120

The 169-120N-120 is a Motor Management Relay produced by General Electric Multilin. Capable of protecting, managing, and monitoring motor systems, the 169 relay includes protective features such as ground fault protection, overcurrent protection, and phase reversal. These features save users money in the long run since protective features extend motor life and reduce time spent maintaining the system.

The motor is capable of activating pre-trip alarms that indicate when issues are arising in the system. Each trip (and alarm) has an associated display message so users can easily identify the source of the problem. While only a single trip can occur at any given time, multiple alarms can be activated simultaneously, and these can be activated while a trip is occurring. In the event that multiple alarms are active at once, the 48-character liquid-crystal display will list them in order of priority. Users can navigate the list using the keypad located on the faceplate beneath the LCD.

The 169-120N-120 is highly configurable and offers a wide array of possible connections. For users with minimal system requirements, not every port needs to be utilized by the system; users could potentially get by with simply three phase current CT inputs, supply power, and trip relay contacts. However, users with great configuration needs have countless additional options such as RTD inputs and various CTs.

Reviews For 169-120N-120

Internal Review
(4.0)

While the 169-120N-120 is an excellent relay for motor management, users requiring greater features should consider purchasing a PLUS model of the relay, which includes increased metering, an RS422 port, and more. The RS422 port allows the relay to communicate with other relays, programmable controllers, and computer systems. It is worth noting that there is a built in MASTER/SLAVE logic system for users connecting their relay to other relay units, streamlining the process considerably. -AX Control Tech Team
