One key feature of the 489-P5-HI-A1-E model that makes it a worthwhile investment is that it has an enhanced display, the enhanced display on this specific relay allows for a larger LCD which can help the user immensely.
The relay is equipped with analog testing output setpoints. These setpoints can be used during the testing or startup of the relay to ensure that all of the analog outputs on the model are performing accurately, if any errors have occurred it could indicate that the model is experiencing difficulties with the analog outputs. It should also be noted that if the attached generator the relay is working with is offline, currents are not being accurately measured, or no alarms or trips are active then the analog outputs can be forced. If the outputs are forced the In-Service indicator on the device will flash to specify that the 489 relay is not operating in protection mode.
When installing and mounting the 489-P5-HI-A1-E relay the location must be taken into account as the door on the case of the 489 relay must be able to open without any interference to, or from the adjoining equipment. If an interference is possible then a different location is recommended for the mounting as any interference could cause damage to the door.
Three groups of indicators are available on the 489-P5-HI-A1-E model. These groups are output status, generator status, and 489 status LED indicators. The following indicators are associated with the output status group indicators, 6 service, 5 alarm, 1 trip, and 2, 3, and 4 auxiliary LEDs.
