About the 565-5-5-M
Marketed as a Digital Feeder Management Relay, the 565-5-5-M model is primarily used in applications in which protection and management of high and medium-voltage distribution systems is required. Each character in the part number is important as it indicates the different functions of the device such as the ground and phase current inputs shown by the two fives following the 565 (which simply indicates what series the machine is part of). The relay must be mounted as a panel mount. Users should ensure that the device is mounted in a location where the keypad and LCD on the front of the relay are still easily accessible.
A multitude of messages can be shown on the display screen of the 565-5-5-M relay, some of which include the actual values monitored by the system. There are twenty-one typical messages that will pop up pertaining to the actual values which include phase (PH), degrees celsius (DEG C), overcurrent (O/C), access (A), and many more. The comprehensive list of the messages and their abbreviations can be found in the fourth chapter of the GE 1601-0017 E2.73 565-575 Feeder Management Relay Instruction Manual attached above. Users can edit system settings to specify which parameters appear passively when the LCD is not in active use.
Relay testing is available to ensure proper functionality of the device. Some of the testing types available on the 565-5-5-M relay are primary and secondary injection testing. The primary injection relay testing is done by injecting a current through both the ground and phase CTs which will provide a potential source. Operation of the entire system, including the CTs, can be checked when using a high current test set.
