About the 745-W2-P5-G5-HI-A
Part of General Electric Multilin’s 745 series, the 745-W2-P5-G5-HI-A is a Transformer Protection Relay that can function as a standalone unit or component of an automated substation. The device utilizes highly configurable setpoints to monitor, record, and respond to changing conditions in the transformer, autotransformer, and/or reactor. Because the transformer protection system has built-in metering capabilities, this unit helps reduce costs associated with auxiliary metering equipment that would otherwise be employed.
The 745-W2-P5-G5-HI-A is a two winding per phase version of the model. Both windings have a phase current input rating of 5A, denoted by the “P5” modifier located in the model number. This version of the part also includes analog input/outputs, an additional feature over the base model. The optional general-purpose transducer input enables the monitoring of a user-set quantity, which can then be used in the protective functions of GE Multilin’s 745 relay.
This particular model of the 745 comes with seven transducer output channels which can be individually programmed for ranges of 4 to 20mA, 0 to 20mA, 1 to 10mA, and 0 to 1mA. The 745-W2-P5-G5-HI-A differs from its low power counterparts, offering a control power range of 90 to 300 VDC; 70 to 265 VAC at 48 to 62 Hz as opposed to 20 to 60 VDC; 20 to 48 VAC at 48 to 62 Hz. This makes it the superior option for high control power transformer systems.
