About the MBM08CA185.000
Functioning as an IO_C module for the MM300 series, General Electric Multilin’s MBM08CA185.000 supplies the Motor Manager Relay with control voltage input, six digital inputs, and two form-A contact output relays. The digital inputs can be programmed to any of the relay’s various input functions, like field stop or process interlock. The contact outputs can also follow any of the relay’s digital signals, such as alarms and status signals.
The IO_C module is equipped with protective mechanisms that shield the relay and its components if potentially hazardous system events transpire. For example, if the IO_C module detects an interruption to its auxiliary supply, it is able to raise an AC Low Aux Voltage Inhibit, which sets the input state of the IO_C’s contact inputs to OFF. This is because the interruption prevents the module from sensing the actual states, which is potentially harmful.
GE Multilin’s user manuals offer a straightforward guide for module installation, which greatly simplifies the process for the user. Before making any changes, users should first ensure that control power has been removed from the unit. If users are replacing an existing module, they should note the slot it was contained in, as modules can only be replaced with like modules. Users must then unscrew the two captive screws at the bottom and top of the module. Unlatch the module from the module bay, align the new module card edges with the slot track, and gently slide the module into the proper position. Reattach the two captive screws, and the module installation process will be complete.
