About the 12M9-004-A9
Designed for installation in the highly scalable, modular MM300 Motor Manager series, the 12M9-004-A9 is a CPU module that provides the management system with a Modbus RS485 port, a thermistor input, and a 50:0.025 CBCT input. The module is easily installed when following the instructions found in the 1601-9023-AD user manual, which is complete with diagrams for especially efficient and precise replacement or upgrading. The module fits into slot B and optionally comes with communications features such as FieldBus and Ethernet protocols.
The thermistor input is made up of metal oxides and is highly sensitive temperature, able to detect temperature changes in the motor system, similar to an RTD (resistance temperature detector). Thermistors have a rapid response time and can trigger trips or alarms in the system when conditions reach unsustainable parameters. Either a negative temperature coefficient thermistor (NTC thermistor) or positive temperature coefficient thermistor (PTC thermistor) can be directly connected to the positive and negative terminals located on the CPU module.
The aforementioned FieldBus protocols are standardized as IEC 61784/61158 and give structure to complex automated industrial systems, connecting control devices in daisy chain, star, branch, or ring configurations. Multiple devices located in the field can be easily networked with a controller unit, allowing rapid, real-time communications between these units. These devices include equipments like sensors, motors, switches, and fans. Digital communications guided by FieldBus protocols help reduce the cost and time consumption that would be required in wiring these devices together, whether over long or short distances.
