Capable of connecting up to 128 serial ModBus devices to an Ethernet network, the MN4-HI-XX-A1-X is a Multi-Port Serial Server & Managed Switch produced by General Electric Multilin. The device converts Modbus RTU into Modbus TCP over Ethernet, and each of the four ports can be individually configured to work at different speeds or with different Modbus TCP port settings. The unit is industrially hardened for harsh operating environments and can work at a wide range of temperatures. The MN4-HI-XX-A1-X also offers convenient, standard DIN rail mounting for straightforward integration into industrial environments. This particular edition of the MultiNet4 series is a high control power unit, demarcated by the “HI” in the product number. This means that it functions within a control range of 90 to 250 VDC/90 to 250 VAC 50/60 Hz.

MultiNet4 is designed to work closely with Mutlilin’s EnerVista software program and is fully supported by the EnerVista Integrator and Viewpoint Monitoring tool suite. These tools enable the integration of the status of Local Area Networks, Alarming of Network problems, and Security Alerts into the user’s Control and Monitoring system. Multilin’s PC Setup Application also allows for the easy, automatic installation and configuration of communication drivers.

General Electric’s MultiNet4 series offers enhanced network security through its various safeguarding features. SSL Web encryption ensures the integrity of system data and users while port security is capable of blocking unauthorized MAC addresses from accessing the network. The device also features embedded RADIUS support that provides remote access and password control. Finally, SNMP v1 / v2/ v3 allows for secure access to network devices via encryption and authentication.
