About the MN4-LO-XX-ADX
Produced by General Electric Multilin, the MN4-LO-XX-ADX is a Multi-Port Serial Server and Managed Switch. The device converts Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP over Ethernet, which allows it to connect up to 128 serial devices to an Ethernet network. It integrates four ports into a single device, eliminating the complex, expensive wiring and auxiliary equipment that would be required without it. Each port is individually-configurable and can operate at different speeds or port settings. The network supports 10/100BaseT and 100BaseF fiber optic connections alongside rich network security and management functions.
The unit is also hardened against a vast array of environmental conditions and can withstand harsh utility and industrial environments. It can operate within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, or -40°F to 185°F. At either end of this range, however, users should ensure that especially extreme temperatures are not sustained for more than sixteen hours. The relay can also survive ambient humidity up to 95% non-condensing. The metal enclosure also shields the internal components from dust and chemical corrosion, increasing overall system life and reducing downtime.
This version of the MultiNet4 relay is the low control power edition of the series, indicated by the “LO” in the model number. It functions within a range of 24-48 V DC, and users should ensure that this range is not exceeded or else system damage could occur. The DC power supply connection is housed internally in order to provide additional protection from environmental factors and general wear.
