About the G60-N00-ALH-F8M-H6L-M8M-P6L-U6L-W6L

Boasting a range of I/O options and a bevy of system monitoring and metering capabilities, GE Multilin’s G60-N00-ALH-F8M-H6L-M8M-P6L-U6L-W6L acts as a Generator Protection System for medium to large generators, usually those driven by gas, hydraulics, or steam. It offers a number of Cyber Security measures such as password implementation, and Multilin’s EnerVista UR software program helps compile relevant cyber security data to reduce workload on the user for cyber security audits.

Some of the relay’s communications options include a USB port, an RS232 port (located on the faceplate), an RS485 port, and Ethernet. The relay also has a number of communications-related features, such as LAN redundancy and direct I/O messaging. The G60-N00-ALH-F8M-H6L-M8M-P6L-U6L-W6L’s LAN redundancy feature eliminates the traditional LAN switchover process that results in LAN downtime by enabling the relay to become a dual attached node that uses both the main and redundant network simultaneously to transfer data packets. If one of the networks goes down, at least one of the packets will arrive at its intended destination.

The relay’s scalable hardware provides configurable protection for the most rigorous of systems. The faceplate swings open to allow the installation of additional modules such as Multilin’s Field Ground Protection Module (GPM-F), which can detect ground faults in the field wiring of the generator. Modules can only be replaced with like modules, so users should ensure they are installing modules into the correct location by noting down the slot while removing the original module.

Frequently Asked Questions about G60-N00-ALH-F8M-H6L-M8M-P6L-U6L-W6L

What are the CT/VT and CPU components of the GE Multilin G60-N00-ALH-F8M-H6L-M8M-P6L-U6L-W6L Generator Protection System G60 universal relay?
The GE Multilin G60-N00-ALH-F8M-H6L-M8M-P6L-U6L-W6L serves to provide the user with a universal relay generator protection system G60 UR Series. This G60 contains two 8M CT/VT modules designated at the M__ and the F__ positions in the order code product breakdown. These GE Multilin CT/VT modules have the 8M order code which is a new CT/VT module. These new modules have sensitive ground 4CT/4VT characteristics with enhanced diagnostics. If these are ever used with an older CPU module in the same universal relay then a Hardware mismatch or a display error will show up in the universal relay system. The reverse is also true, where a new CPU module must be used with a new CT/VT in the same universal relay.  If the CT/VT module is new then the universal relay must be characterized by firmware version of 4.0 or higher.
What is the benefit of a G60 universal relay compared to analog electronic equipment?

Analog electronic equipment first replaced electromechanical equipment; however, both options still had extensive needs for auxiliary equipment and cabling to serve in providing protection, metering, and control functions. Now these digital relays have become comprehensive in their function, such as the G60, reducing the need for much auxiliary equipment and cables.
