About the UR-6CH
Offering UR relays the ability to communicate with auxiliary equipment by providing digital inputs and outputs, General Electric’s UR-6CH is a Digital I/O Module. This particular unit offers 8-Form C digital outputs. Form-C digital outputs are Single Pole-Double Throw (SPDT) contacts, indicating that there is common point that connects to one normally closed contact (NC) and one normally open contact (NO). Form-C can switch between these two outputs and is often called a “changeover” contact as a result.
The Universal Relays series is built with scalability in mind, offering a hinged faceplate that allows access to the module bay within for easy installation and upgrading. While the enhanced and normal models have minor differences when accessing the module bay, both units provide a relatively easy entrance for hardware modifications. Detailed instructions and visual aids can be found in the Universal Relays user manuals, many of which are located on AX Control’s website.
Prospective buyers should ensure they are buying the right module for their power system needs, as other Digital I/O relays in the same series provide different contact forms and capabilities. The series also offers units with trip-rated Form-A contacts, Solid State Relay contacts, or a combination of Form-A, Form-C, and SSR. Solid state output modules offer fast tripping, high current breaking capabilities, and quick reset times that are perfect for direct tripping applications.
