About the UR-7HH
Providing two channels for interrelay communications, the UR-7HH Communications Module is intended for installation in the Universal Relays series. The module provides the relay with two LED channels that are multi-mode and function at a wavelength of 820 nm.
While multi-mode fiber optic wiring is considerably cheaper than single-mode, attenuation (or loss of signal/loss of dB) is greater over long distances for multi-mode setups than for single-mode. Users should consider cable length before making a determination on which module they purchase; more information on the different available module options can be located in the Universal Relays manuals. Additionally, the modules function with various wavelengths, which affect light scattering over distance as well. Prospective buyers should put in appropriate research before purchasing their module.
The Universal Relays series is able to display data generated from module activity and display it to the user passively through the LED located on the unit’s faceplate or more effectively through a computer connected to the relay running Multilin’s EnerVista software program. The EnerVista software program provides a streamlined user interface for monitoring channel health and trending and exporting data related to ongoing interrelay communications. EnerVista UR has extremely light hardware requirements, making implementation of the program convenient and inexpensive.
