About the UR-8LH
General Electric Multilin’s UR-8LH is a CT/VT module designed for the Universal Relay series. The module can be used to replace current modules, upgrade current modules, or provide new capabilities to Universal Relays that did not originally come with the given module. This particular module supplies the relay with 4CT/4VT with enhanced diagnostics.
This variation of the module, the UR-8LH, is equipped with enhanced diagnostic capabilities that provide a number of benefits to the power system. Primarily, the module is able to verify the integrity of analog signals and ensure reliability. The module does so by employing an advanced algorithm that can determine whether the signals are operating properly.
CT/VT transformers scale down current values and voltage values to amounts that the relay can handle, allowing it to calculate a ratio that outputs values pertaining to current and voltage. This feature is extremely critical for identifying hazardous voltage and current conditions within the system and establishing a suitable response. This data can be viewed through the front faceplate’s liquid-crystal display or through a computer running the EnerVista UR software program.
