About the UR-8MH
GE Multilin’s UR-8MH is a CT/VT module that provides the Universal Relays with sensitive ground 4CT/4VT and enhanced diagnostics. “VT” stands for voltage transformer while “CT” stands for “current transformer”, indicating the module’s ability to scale down voltage and current ratings too high for the relay to monitor and manage. After installing the module, the relay can provide valuable data on current and voltage and use the data to respond to shifting conditions within the power system.
The Universal Relays manuals provide further information on proper connection procedure, offering diagrams and guidelines for maximum efficiency. In general, the CT/VT module can have voltage inputs on channels one through four inclusive or channels five through eight inclusive, with channels one and five connecting to phase A, channels two and six connecting to phase B, and so forth.
The UR-8MH module is highly versatile and can be configured for a number of processes and schemes. For example, users can establish concurrent split-phase protection and differential protection if necessary for the power system. The modifiability of the relay allows it to be customized to the user’s unique system requirements, whether through varied wiring arrangements or by editing relay settings.
