About the UR-9AH
General Electric Multilin’s UR-9AH is a CPU Module intended for installation in the Universal Relay series. It offers the relay protective elements by supplying it with logic algorithms, logic gates, timers, and latches. The CPU module is also capable of interfacing with other modules within the relay, such as the CT/VT module, helping determine the parameters collected by said modules. It should be noted that new CT/VT modules must be used with new CT/VTs while old CT/VT modules must be used with old CPU modules. Users not matching these factors properly will receive a DSP ERROR or HARDWARE MISMATCH from the system. CPU modules do not require a ground surge connection.
There is a fairly large amount of CPU modules released, so prospective buyers should carefully read the options contained in the Universal Relays manuals before making a purchase. Some CPU modules, for example, support Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP), an Ethernet network protocol standard that guarantees efficient failover against the failure of any network component. Users should purchase the CPU module that best serves their specific system needs.
