About the HE693OIU900
HE693OIU900 is an Operator Interface Unit which is a part of the HE693OIU, developed and distributed by Horner. This system is designed to work as an interface between users and the control system. The key components of the Operation Interface Unit (OIM) include a 2 line by 20-character vacuum-fluorescent display, 32 position tactile keypad, programmable 12 function keys, and 12 programmable LEDs. The device can be programmed to hold up to 250 custom display screens, displaying up to 4 items of data to be read or written using the GENI network.
The OIU is also able to communicate using a 9 pin RS-232 Connector. The connector for RS-232 communication is on the back side of the panel on the top right corner. To allow for communication with the RS-232 connecter, the host programming kit must be used to create a configuration file for the operator interface unit. This file can then be stored on a disk and downloaded to OIU. The following signals correspond to pins 1-9 in order: DCD, TXD, RXD, DTR, GND, DSR, CTS, RTS, RI. The other method for communicating with the OIM is via the Genius Bus. This bus is located next to the RS-232 Connector. The Genius bus has four pins with the pins being Serial 1, Serial 2, Shield Out, and Shield In. This Genius bus allows for connection to the Genius network which keeps track of the various devices using “Device numbers” (0 to 31). By default, the bus controller assumes number 31
