About the KV-10T

The KV-10T from Keyence is a base Programmable Logic Controller unit.  It has six inputs and four outputs.  This particular unit uses transistor outputs rather than relay outputs. 

The KV-10T has an impact resistance that conforms to JIS B 3502 and IEC 61131-2.    The unit is also rated with conforming vibration resistance according to the same codes.   Insulation resistance is to 50 mega-ohms or more.    The unit should not be used in locations where corrosive gases or excessive dust is present, as these may negatively affect the unit or cause significant heat buildup that will limit its lifetime. 

The KV-10T unit is designed for use in locations where the air temperature remains between zero to 50 degrees Celsius and relative humidity is 35 to 85%, non-condensing.   The unit should be installed so the front face (the face with communication ports) is facing either front or upward.   Do not install the unit on a ceiling.  Additionally, if you are installing more than one unit, be sure to maintain ventilation space between units so equipment and power supplies can release heat.  This ensures units do not overheat. 

While the KV series is resistant to noise, it can be used in normal environments without grounding.  However, if there is an overabundance of surrounding noise, grounding the unit will be necessary.   Keyence manuals will provide detailed instructions for how to perform grounding for this unit in a complete and safe manner.
