About the LK-081

LK-081 is a standard sensor head that is part of the LK Series manufactured by Keyence. The reference distance is 80 mm, and the measuring range is ± 15. The light source is a visible red semiconductor laser with an output of 0.95 mW and a wavelength of 670 nm. The FDA marks this unit a Class II laser product, and the IEC 60825-1 marks this unit a Class 2 laser product. The linearity is 3 μm. The sampling cycle is 1024 μs. The ambient light for this unit must be either incandescent or fluorescent at a maximum of 10000 lux. The applications that this sensor works well for include measuring loose bearing seals, welding bead shapes, grooves, steel sheet swelling, the shapes of projections, and the depressions on extrusion moulded products.

Optional extension cables for this series include a 2 meter cable, a 5 meter cable, and a 10 meter cable. There is a laser ON alarm LED that is lit while the sensor is emitting the laser. The laser is controlled by a key-operated switch. The user should remove the key when they are not using the laser. The sensor head attaches to the LK Series controller with which is is associated. The user may check controller and sensor head associations in the user instruction manual. Attach the sensor head to the controller via connectors and an extension cable. If the user needs to disconnect the sensor head from the controller at any point, simply disconnect the connectors.
