The 0-57418- A/B interface module was made so that it could give the AutoMax system with which it is connected the ability to effectively communicate with applicable programmable controller equipment. In addition to that, the 0-57418- A/B interface module has the ability to transfer data between the AutoMax processor module and a related device using a subset of the A/B protocol. The subset of this protocol will let the 0-57418- A/B interface module to appear as if it is a PLC-2 or a PLC-3 whenever it is viewed from a serial port. When on the A/B Data Highway, the 0-57418- A/B interface module can act as either a master or a slave.

On the 0-57418- A/B interface module’s faceplate, there are a few components. On the top part, you will see two LEDs. There is a 7-segment LED that was made to display both the status and the error codes. Just below that, there is a small LED status indicator that is labeled as “OK,” which indicates whether or not the 0-57418- A/B interface module is functioning properly. There are also two drop number thumbwheel switches and a RS-232 communications port.
