About the 45C20

The 45C20 is a Programmable Controller created by Reliance Electric. This controller may have been also sold by Baldor Reliance and Asea Brown Boveri. It may also be found under the part numbers ABB 802803-25RD and ABB 802803-25RE. The 45C20 has been discontinued by the manufacturers, but AX Control does try very hard to keep this item in stock. The 45C20 is a 120/240 VAC Programmable Logic Controller that is rated at 50/60Hz. It was created to be a part of the AutoMate 20 systems. This controller has a larger I/O and memory capacity compared to previous models. A standard DB25 connector is provided on the face of this unit so that remote communications applications can be set to 1200 baud or can keep the standard 9600 port default.

The 45C20 has a 256 digital and 64 Analog combination. It has 736 internal coils and 512 registers. It has a remote I/O mounting capability. It has a 2k x 16 non-volatile memory that does not require a battery.

The 45C20 has a series of LED indicator lights labeled RUN, POWER, CPU READY, COM DATE, FORCING, and RAIL FAULT.  It has an optional R-Net connector. For a program connection, it has a communications port. It has a user-replaceable fuse. It has a READY CONTACT that can be used to shut down the system in emergencies and it has the ability to open if the system fails an internal diagnostic.
