About the 45C225
The 45C225 is an AutoMate 20E Programmable Controller Module made by Reliance Electric. It may have also been produced by ABB or Baldor Reliance during its production years. It has since been discontinued by the manufacturers and may be difficult to find. AX Control, however, still makes every attempt to keep this module in stock. An alternate part number for this module is 802803-38RB.
The 45C225 is 120/240 VAC, 0.5/0.25 A, and 50/60 Hz. The AutoMate 20E has many of the basic features of the AutoMate 20. It has 512 registers, an enhanced ladder diagram language, 256 digital/64 analog I/O combinations, extensive diagnostic capabilities, remote I/O mounting, communication to the R-NET, user-friendly programming tools, and the ability to be programmed using an IBM compatible PC or mini programmer. The only ways it differs from the AutoMate 20 is its 4K x 16 non-volatile memory and its ability to manage up to 20 PID loops.
The 45C225 has many features on its chassis. There are factory-drilled holes on the top, sides, and bottom of the module that help to encourage air to flow to the internal circuitry of the module. On the back of the chassis is a panel that can be used with four screws to securely mount it. On its faceplate are a series of LED status indicators. These indicators are labeled Rail Fault, Forcing, COM Data, CPU Ready, Power, and Ready. There is a user-replaceable fuse port that is for a 250V AGC 2A fuse. There is a terminal strip that has input power connections and a ready contact. There is a coaxial R-Net connection port and an RS-232 communications port that is for the programmer connection. There are also four ports for I/O rail connections.
