About the 45C231
The 45C231 is an AutoMate 15E Programmable Logic Controller from Reliance Electric.
The 45C231 has several standard features common to the AutoMate 15 controllers. It can communicate over the R-Net industrial network. It can perform extensive diagnostics. It has user-friendly programming tools and it can be programmed using an IBM compatible PC or with a hand-held mini-programmer. Because it is an AutoMate 15E it does have some expanded features that include 2K x16 non-volatile memory, 512 registers, 736 internal coils, 64 digital/16 analog/or a combination of I/O channels, and it has an enhanced ladder diagram language with instruction blocks. This controller also has the ability to handle four-function math. It has three different types of memory that includes an EEPROM, NVRAM, and a CMOS read/write memory.
The faceplate of the 45C231 has 6 status LED indicators on it. They are labeled Run, Power, CPU Ready, COM Data, Forcing, and Rail Fault. There is an R-Net connector on the top right side of the faceplate and an RS-232 communications port. Below that are I/O rail connections. To the side of the rail connections is a terminal strip that has input power connections and a Ready contact. Just above the terminal strip is a user-replaceable fuse port. There are air vents on the sides of this controller. There are brackets on the back of the controller that have factory drilled holes on them. These brackets can be used to attach the controller to its mounting surface.
