About the 45C232

The 45C232 circuit board is a component manufactured, originally, by Reliance Electric.  This printed circuit board is designed to be used as a Communication Input/Output module for the Automax system.  Automax is trademarked by Reliance Electric and was designed as an early programmable, microprocessor-based distributed control system (DCS) capable of millisecond response times.  This DCS system was and is typically used in manufacturing and industrial process control applications using interconnected racks.    This is a solid-state device. 

The 45C232 functions as an I/O module that connects to other modules within the system and allows for the transfer of information through various connectors.  These connectors act as inputs and outputs.  In Automax systems this is typically designed with master/slave drops connected via coax or fiber optic cable.   Make sure to use fiber optic cable in locations where total electrical isolation may be needed. 

Automax I/O racks are typically built using ladder logic and support Automax programming software.  Depending on the module, specific and detailed installation steps may be required.  We suggest reviewing your original documentation from the OEM, including manuals, user guides, and product manuals, before unboxing your new part to begin any install.  This should also be the first step in maintenance procedures.
