About the 45C270
The 45C270 is a Reliance Electric produced Memory Expander. This card may have also been mass-produced by Asea Brown Boveri and Baldor Reliance depending on what years it was manufactured.
The 45C270 is an 8K Memory Expander Module created for the AutoMate 40 Logic Processor system. There are four sizes of memory cards available and this is the smallest at 8k. One or two of these cards can be used to expand the memory of this system. It can be used to increase the non-volatile memory to a max of 104K x16 or 32K x16 max with the 40x. The typical AutoMax processor comes standard with an 8K x 16 non-volatile memory.
The 45C270 is a long, thin card that is encased in a black enclosure. It has two mounting brackets on the top and bottom of the faceplate. These brackets have two screws that allow for easy mounting. There are a series of three indicator LED lights on the faceplate. They are labeled ACTIVE, READY, and ERROR. This card also has two male slots on the back of it that can be plugged into female slots on the AutoMate 40 storage rack. There is a white sticker on the right side of the card that has the main details of this card written on it.
