About the 45C271
The 45C271 is a Memory Expander created by Reliance Electric. Depending on what year it was in production, this memory module may have also been sold Asea Brown Boveri or Baldor Reliance.
The 45C271 is a 16K Memory Expander Module. It was originally created for the AutoMate 40 series Logic Processing system. The Expanded Memory Cards come in four sizes of memory space and this is the second smallest at 16k. It is possible to expand your current memory to a max of 104K x16 on an AutoMate 40 system or 32K x16 max with the AutoMate 40x. You may use one or two cards to make this possible. A typical AutoMax 40 processor comes with a non-volatile memory of 8K x 16.
The 45C271 is a very slim and long card. This module has two mounting brackets. One of them is on the top and one is on the bottom of the faceplate. These brackets come standard with two mounting screws that allow for easy installation. This module has a series of three LED lights on the faceplate. These indicator LEDs are labeled ACTIVE, ERROR, and READY. There is a large white label on the right side of this module that contains the key details for this system device written on it. This entire system is housed in a sturdy black enclosure.
