About the 45C28
Designed by Reliance Electric for the AutoMax Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Series, the 45C28 model is described as a Gateway module. The best network for this model to operate on is an R-Net Industrial Network. The singular connector on the front of the model on the right side is the connector needed to connect the unit to the chosen industrial network. This model proceeds model number 45C29 which is also a processor control gateway unit.
The main difference between the two models is that this unit will operate on a power supply of twenty-four to forty-eight volts of direct current while the 45C29 model will operate at one hundred and twenty to two hundred and forty volts of alternating current. The associated fuse type required when operating the 45C28 model is two hundred and fifty volts with a five ampere.
There are four LEDs available on this model which are located towards the top of the unit and to the left of the Ethernet connector. The four LEDs are ready, power, RECV, and XMIT. The power LED will indicate that the voltages on the unit are in the specified range needed. Unfortunately, due to being discontinued by Reliance Electric in 2005, there is very little documentation on the 45C28 model. Most of the information provided above is from a visual inspection of the model.
When operating the 45C28 model on the required R-Net Industrial Network it has the ability to communicate with other AutoMax PLCs manufactured by Reliance Electric.
