About the 45C301
The 45C301 is a Standard Processor Card for a Reliance Electric AutoMate 30 system. This card may have been in production under the Asea Brown Boveri or Baldor Reliance product lines depending on what year it was being manufactured.
The 45C301 is an AutoMate 30 Processor Card. Its main purpose is to control the speed, system flexibility, and the power of the AutoMate system. This card has a 4k x 16 application memory and comes with the standard software option. This software makes it so the 45C301 can handle a variety of functions like complex subroutines, interpreting logical instructions, manipulating data, and creating tables for advanced control tasks.
The 45C301 promotes communication between four I/O ports or four local heads. The I/O ports are rated for 16 analog or 64 digital I/O. The local heads are rated for 64 analog or 256 digital I/O. You do have the option to mix and match local heads and I/O ports. Communication between this setup can take place at a rate of 250k baud using parity to make sure data integrity is maintained. This card is Intel Multibus compatible.
There are a series of LED indicator lights on the front faceplate of the 45C301. These lights are labeled RAIL FAULT, FORCING, RUN, COMM DATA, and READY. There is also an RS-232 Communication port that serves a host computer interconnector. It has an on-board power supply and is isolated from logic. The faceplate also has for I/O communication ports that are labeled 0, 1, 2, and 3.
