The 45C305 is a Reliance Electric produced Processor Card. Depending on when this card was in production, it could have also been listed under the Baldor Reliance or Asea Brown Boveri product lines.

The 45C305 is an Enhanced Processor created for the AutoMate 30 system. This card has a 4 k x16 application memory and enhanced software. Its main functions include being able to control the speed, power, and general flexibility of the AutoMate system. Depending on how you configure this card in a Card Rack Assembly, you have the option to pair it with an I/O and power supply to turn it into a standalone controller.

The 45C305 comes standard with the enhanced software option. This software performs all of the same tasks as the standard software option and simply provides additional instructions that allow for more complex tasks. Some of these tasks include ASCII communication, file handling, and remote I/O and PID control. This processor can talk directly to four local heads or four I/O ports. The local heads are rated at 256 digital or 64 analog I/O. The I/O ports are rated 64 digital or 16 analog I/O. You do have the option of mixing the local heads and I/O ports. Communication data integrity is maintained using parity while the communication is happening at 250k baud.

The 45C305 comes with 5 LED Indicator lights. These are labeled COMM DATA, RAIL FAULT, READY, FORCING, and RUN. There is an RS-232 communication port located on the front faceplate. There are also four I/O communication ports labeled 0, 1, 2, and 3.
