About the 45C310
The 45C310 is a Reliance Electric Card Rack Assembly. Depending on what years it was in production, it may have also been sold by Baldor Reliance and Asea Brown Boveri.
The 45C310 is a small metal enclosure that’s primary function is to serve as a housing unit for AutoMate 30/40 system components. The Card Rack is a necessary component in this system. This particular card rack is the smallest option available. It only has 6 slots available. This rack allows for the least amount of flexibility but does allow for a more compact system. This system will accept a 2-slot or a 3-slot power supply if you used up those corresponding slots on the rack assembly.
When this assembly is configured correctly with the right cards, the assembly can perform three functions. It can communicate to the R-NET network and then send messages to other AutoMate PCs. It can be a standalone controller. It can also be placed in a remote location to be a remote I/O substation.
The 45C310 is a relatively small metal box. It sits on its shorter horizontal edges. To does not come with wiring or a power supply. The cards and other devices can be slid into place through the open side. There are mounting brackets on the top and bottom edges where you can screw the cards into place. There are three long and three short card slots in this assembly. There are vents in the top and bottom of this rack to promote airflow. There are metal mounting brackets on the back sides of the rack.
