About the 45C312
The 45C312 is a Card Rack Assembly created by Reliance Electric. This rack was possibly also sold under the Baldor Reliance or ASEA Brown Boveri brands depending on what years it was actually in production.
The 45C312 is a simple metal enclosure that is used for the Automate 30/40 System. This type of component is mandatory in an AutoMate configuration. The size of the card assembly is something that you can customize. The 45C312 has a 10- slot configuration. This rack assembly is a little more flexible with its system configurations than some of the smaller models. If you want to plug in a 2-slot or 3- slot power supply the rack can manage that. You will, however, need to account for that in your card slot allotment.
If you can configure your cards correctly, this rack assembly can serve three main functions. The first function is being able to be a standalone controller. The second function is to be a part of a network that can use the R-NET to send messages to other AutoMate PCs. The final function that this system set up can perform is to become a remote I/O subsystem that can be stored in a remote location.
The 45C312 is a decent sized metal enclosure. It does not come with any wiring or a power supply. There are two metal sides, a top and bottom that have air vents that promote airflow within the device set up, and the back which holds the long and short card slots. You can slide the cards or power supplies into the open side and mount them directly to rack using the mounting brackets on the top and bottom edge of the rack. You can secure the devices using screws.
