The 45C313 is a Card Rack Assembly produced by Reliance Electric. Depending on when the rack was created, it could have also been sold under the Asea Brown Boveri or Baldor Reliance product lines.

The 45C313 is a very simple metal enclosure created by Reliance Electric for its AutoMate 30/40 Programmable Logic Control Systems. This rack system is a vital component of the AutoMate system. There is some flexibility with the system configurations depending on how large of a rack assembly you purchase. The 45C313 is a medium-sized 13-slot rack. If you want to plug in a 2-slot or a 3-slot power supply, please keep in mind that these power supplies will take up three of your total slots on the rack.

Depending on the cards you put in the 45C313, you can set up your system to perform three main tasks. The first thing you can do is set the system up to be a remote I/O subsystem and then set up the rack assembly in a remote place. The second purpose of this system is to be able to be a stand-alone controller. The last task this system can accomplish is to be able to communicate through the R-NET system to other AutoMate PCs.

The 45C313 is simply just a housing unit for all the AutoMate system components including power supplies and processors. The top and bottom sides of this rack have air vents to promote airflow to the devices in the assembly. You can slide the cards into the open side of the rack and plug them into their card slots. These cards can then be mounted to the rack using screws to attach them to brackets located on the bottom and top of the rack.
