The 45C314 is a Reliance Electric Card Rack Assembly that was created as part of the AutoMate 30/40 Programmable Logic Controller System. This rack may have also been part of the Baldor Reliance and Asea Brown Boveri product lines depending on when it was produced. The 45C314 is a metal enclosure for AutoMate system components. The AutoMate system cannot function without a Card Rack. This rack is a medium-sized enclosure. It has space for 13 card slots. If you need to have a 2-slot power supply or a 3-slot power supply, you need to subtract three total slots from your 13-slot maximum.

The 45C314 has a good amount of system flexibility. It can perform three major functions depending on what your card configuration looks like. The first thing it can do is to talk to other AutoMate PCs using the R-NET Network. The next thing it can do is act as a stand-alone controller. Finally, it can become a remote I/O subsystem and be placed in a remote location.

The 45C314 is a metal case that can hold a wide variety of system components. It does not come with any type of hardware that is preinstalled except for the short and long card slots on the back wall of the rack and the top and back mounting brackets. Cards can be slid into the open side of the rack and slid into the card slots. They can then be mounted to the brackets using screws.
