The 45C315 was a Card Rack Assembly mass-produced by Reliance Electric. This rack assembly could have also been a part of the Baldor Reliance or Asea Brown Boveri product lines depending on what years this part was in production. The 45C315 is a simple metal enclosure that houses an AutoMate 30/40 Logic Controller Assembly. This type of card rack is absolutely essential to the AutoMate System and cannot function without it. Card Racks do come in a wide variety of sizes that can have varying amounts of system configuration flexibility. This card rack comes with a total of 16 Card Slots. This rack is the second-largest rack you can have and is much more customizable than the smaller models.

Depending on how you can configure the devices within the 45C315, you can configure this assembly to perform three basic functions. The system configuration can be used as a standalone controller. It can talk to AutoMate PCs using the R-NET network. Finally, it can be placed in a remote location and be used as an I/O remote subsystem.

This rack assembly is a metallic rectangular box that houses AutoMate system components. It has airflow vents on the top and bottom. The cards can slide in vertically through the open side and attach to the vertical card slots. You can install the cards using the bottom and top brackets and two screws.
