The 45C97 AutoRail Interface is small but very useful device. In particular, the 45C97 AutoRail Interface it used to facilitate communication between the AutoMate 20 Remotely Mounted I/O module and a processor unit from up to 1000 feet away using minimal field wiring. This is accomplished by using the 45C97 AutoRail Interface in conjunction with the 45C35 AutoBus Interface Head. In this setup, the 45C35 AutoBus Interface Head is utilized in place of a local Head and has the ability to support a maximum of four digital I/O rails. These two devices are connected to one another by using two twisted-pair wires of up to 1000 feet long. The 45C97 AutoRail Interface is then connected to one of four communication ports on the AutoMate 20 processor unit by using a 42 inch I/O rail interconnect cable.
The 45C97 AutoRail Interface has three indicator lights that are meant to signal the status of the device to the user. First, there is the light labeled “PWR,” then there is the light labeled “COMM,” and lastly there is the light labeled “FAULT.”
