About the 57404

The 57404 unit was designed and manufactured to be a Network Communications module by Reliance Electric. This particular module was designed to be used along with the AutoMax DCS-NET network. The 57404 network communications module is no longer in production, but AX Control continues to supply it and may have it in stock currently. In general, the 57404 network communications module consists of three main components: the faceplate, the printed circuit board, and the enclosure.

The faceplate has many different components placed on it. There are ejector tabs that are located on the top or bottom. These ejector tabs were implemented so that the operator can easily remove the module from the rack in which it has been inserted. There is also a 25-pin D-shell connector placed on the faceplate that has the label “MONITOR” next to it. This D-shell connector is meant to be used for the RS-232 compatible asynchronous link. There is also a 9-pin D-shell connector labeled as the “NETWORK” connector, two thumbwheel switches, indicator lights, and a seven segment LED display for error codes.

The internal printed circuit board controls the 57404 network communications module’s processes. This includes a watchdog timer, an on board CPU, the status indicator lights, and the LED display. The 57404 network communications module’s circuit board will enable the module to run numerous diagnostics.

The protective enclosure contains the contents of the 57404 network communications module and protects it from any hazardous conditions.
