About the 57417
The 57417 is an Interface Module created by Reliance Electric. This module could have been also been produced and sold by Baldor Reliance or Asea Brown Boveri depending on what year it was in production. This module is no longer supported by any of these manufacturers. AX Control does attempt to keep the 57417 in stock. Please check out our website for its availability.
The 57417 was an AutoMate Interface Module. Its main purpose is to interface with an AutoMax system using a simple RS-232 connection. It uses the AutoMate Communication Protocol to achieve this. This module can be connected to lots of AutoMate modules. It can be connected to the R-NET network using an R-Net Gateway Interface Head. It can also be attached to a serial communication processor so that it can communicate with one or more AutoMate processors. You also have the option of not using the Serial Communication Processor and just connecting the 57417 directly to an AutoMate processor.
This module cannot actually initiate communication between devices. It only acts as a slave. It only responds to commands from its operator interface. It can be put in any slot on an AutoMax card rack. The rack just needs to have at least one processor on it. It has a dual-port memory and can talk to as many as four additional processors.
The 57417 has a maximum 20-watt power dissipation. It has a Fault Code LED and a green LED light under it that is labeled OK. This module is very slim and plugs directly into female card slots on the AutoMax rack. It then can be screwed into place using the brackets on the rack and the two brackets on the 57417’s faceplate.
