About the 57418
Reliance Electric created the 57418 A/B Interface. There is a strong possibility that Baldor Reliance and Asea Brown Boveri also sold this interface as a part of their product lines depending on the year it was manufactured. This interface is not being supported by any of the original manufacturers though. AX Control does try to maintain this item in stock as a refurbished or new surplus item. Please refer to the website for the availability status of the 57418.
The 57418 is an A-B Interface Module that was created to be a part of the AutoMax Line. This product specifically allows for communication to occur between the AutoMax System and Allen-Bradley controller equipment. This module allows information to be shared between systems using A-B specific practices. This takes place between the AutoMax processor modules and Allen-Bradley devices. These protocols make the 57418 look like a PLC-2 or PLC-3 when connected via a serial port. This product has the capacity to act as either a master or slave on the A-B network.
The 57418 is a printed circuit board and faceplate that is housed in a protective chassis. It has a communications port on the faceplate that has an RS-232 connector that is labeled GATEWAY. It links the non-AutoMax systems to the 57418. It has two DROP NUMBER ports and a 7-segment LED labeled FAULT CODE. The FAULT CODE LED lets you know if there are error codes that need to be resolved. There is also an LED labeled OK that lets you know that the module is running as it should.
