About the 57422
The 57422 is a 2 Axis Servo Controller Module that was created by Reliance Electric. It is possible that this controller was also made by Baldor Reliance and Asea Brown Boveri depending on when it was in production.
The 57422 was a Two-Axis servo Module used in an AutoMax Multibus I/O System. In order for this system to use the digital motion control for its two axes, it uses an 80186 high integration microprocessor. This system has a direct bus interface to the DCS 5000 or AutoMax processors. This device can be used to manage an AC or DC drive and servo amplifiers. These amplifiers have the ability to operate in a velocity or current loop. This system sends an update every 1.25 msec. for the position loops and the velocity. It has an onboard CPU watchdog that has a relay interlocked in the drive enabled circuitry.
The 57422 uses a Differential TTL encoder signal type at 5V with a maximum input current of 4.5mA and 250 kHz channel frequency. The registration input has an electronic signal type and a 15-24v DC operating voltage.
The 57422 is a printed circuit card that can be plugged into an AutoMax storage card rack. This module comes with the main circuit board, a faceplate, and an enclosure. This board can be plugged straight into two female card slots on the backplane of the rack. You can then secure it further into place using the brackets on the faceplate and rack. It requires you to use two mounting screws.
