About the 57429
The 57429 is an R-NET Processor Module made by Reliance Electric. There is a possibility this module was also sold by Baldor Reliance or Asea Brown Boveri depending on which years it was in production. This module is not being supported by any of the original manufacturers anymore. However, AX Control does attempt to keep this card in stock. The 57429 is a Single-Board Interface R-NET Module created for the AutoMate PLC control system. It gives a peer-to-peer connection from the AutoMate and AutoMax systems. It also can connect host computers and controllers. Up to a maximum of 32 AutoMate controllers can be connected to the R-NET using an RG-11/U cable. It is considered to be a synchronous baseband coaxial cable network with a multidrop configuration. This entire setup can be plugged into an AutoMax storage rack where more than one 57429 can be housed. When you plug them into the rack, you have the option of running networking lines to each of the modules. These modules can be on the same network system or on a different one depending on what your needs are.
The 57429 has a 16K-byte of dual-port memory. This memory has the ability to store data and can be transmitted over the network. Any processor on the rack can access the dual-port memory using the backplane bus.
All information is sent and received by the 57429’s CPU. This module is also in charge of error-checking and command interpretation. No actual load is put on the processor module for this type of communications.
