The 57552 is a Drive Controller Module created by Reliance Electric. This Model could have also been produced by Baldor Reliance and Asea brown Boveri for their product lines. This part may also be found under the O-57552 part number. This module is no longer being supported by the manufacturers and cannot be purchased directly from them. The 57552 is a Universal Drive Controller created as part of the AutoMax series. This device is mounted onto an AutoMax Rack and is in charge of controlling one or two drives that are also connected to the rack. This Controller can be used to take charge of both AC and DC drives. Up to 10 of these controllers can be mounted onto an AutoMax Rack.

In order to store information for the 57552, it uses non-volatile flash memory. To aid in exchanging data with all of the AutoMax processor modules, the 57552 contains a dual-port memory. This memory port can be used as a storage buffer.  Communication with the AutoMax processors takes place using a Multi Bus backplane. It does this using fiber-optic links.

The 57552 is a printed circuit board assembly. It comes with a sturdy enclosure and a faceplate. There are mounting tabs on the top and bottom of this module that make it easier to mount into a Card Rack. It has a series of LED indicator lights on it labeled CARD OK, OS OK, COMM A OK, DRV A FLT, COMM B OK, and DRV B FLT. It has also has meter ports, test switches, and ports for COMM A and COMM B.
