About the 57C328
The 57C328 is a Remote I/0 Interface Head made by Reliance Electric. It could have also been produced by Baldor Reliance and Asea Brown Boveri depending on what year it was being marketed. The 57C328 is no longer being supported by Reliance Electric. AX Control does try to keep it in stock as a new surplus or a reconditioned stock item. Please check out our website for the availability of this item.
The 57C328 is an AutoMax Remote Head. This is considered to be a communications adapter. It has the capability to interface with the remote I/O network, providing four rail ports for I/O modules. One of these rail ports can talk to an analog I/O, a local head, a digital input/output rail, or to an LED output. It is used as a slave for a Rail I/O network. It is connected to a Remote I/O Communications module (master). More than one 57C328 can be installed in this field. It has a remote drop interface that can be used to support 256 digital inputs or outputs. It can also support up to 16 analog inputs or outputs.
The 57C328 comes with a power supply that shuffles power to four full rails on the digital I/O modules. It also features a terminal strip, status indicators, a fuse, a remote network drop address switch, and a remote network communications port. This module has six LEDs that are labeled RUN, CPU READY, POWER, RAIL FAULT, FAULT LSB, and FAULT MSB. The sides of this device have air vents to help with airflow going to the internal circuitry.
