About the 57C381
The 57C381 is a Drop Cable for an AutoMax Remote I/O Coaxial Cable System. This cable was originally created by Reliance Electric and may have also been sold by Baldor Reliance and ABB. This cable is now discontinued but AX Control still tries to keep the 57C381 in stock.
One end of the 57C381 connects to a Communications Passive Tap (57C380) and the other end connects to an AutoMax Remote I/O Shark Interface Module (57C554) or to a Master Rack Remote I/O Communications Module (57C416).
The 57C381 is a 9-pin d-shell RS-232 with male ends. It is 3 feet long and weighs roughly 0.73 lbs. It has two screws on each side of it to ensure that the cable keeps a solid connection. When connected to the passive tap, the passive tap has the ability to connect a DCS Network or be a go-between for a PC, an AutoMax rack system, a ControlLogix System, or a FlexPak drive. The passive tap uses two BNC jack connectors for coaxial cables in addition to the RS-232 connection. The end of the cable that connects to one of the Remote I/O modules is labeled COMM and connects the module to the network. On the two remote I/O modules the 57C381 plugs into the 9-pin female slot labeled Network. There are dials on both of these modules that can be used to label the Remote I/O Drop Number.
