The 57C382 was originally created to go with an AutoMax Control System. This isolation short haul modem is a required component within the AutoMax system. Its primary objective is to make the communication port on a Modbus Interface Module isolated from other devices. This device can be used as a type of go-between. It can connect directly to the Modbus interface and then to another 57C382. It can also connect directly to a Modicon 584. In order to connect the short haul module to the Modbus interface, you need to purchase a specific cable to connect them. The cable is 57C383 and is a 25-pin RS-232 connector.
The 57C382 is a small metallic box that weighs approximately 1 lb. It comes with a power cord. It has a metallic cylinder on one of the ends and on one of the sides, it has an RS-232 female connector.
