The 57C417 is an Interface that was specifically made to be a component of the AutoMax system. The 57C417 has a max 20-watt power degeneracy. Its main objective is to promote communication with an AutoMax system using a straightforward RS-232 connection. The AutoMate Communication Protocol is used to accomplish this. This module can be linked to lots of different AutoMate modules. It can also be attached to the R-NET network utilizing an R-Net Gateway Interface Head. It can be connected to a serial communication processor. Doing this will allow it to communicate with multiple AutoMate processor modules. You have the choice of not using the Serial Communication Processor and linking the 57C417 just a standard AutoMate processor.
This component cannot actually physically initiate an interface between devices. It must act as a slave device; responding only to commands from its operator. It can be placed in any slot on an AutoMax card rack that is not taken up by a processor or a Common Memory Module. It has a dual-port memory and can interface with as many as four other processors. It has a Fault Code LEDs that help alert the user to errors in the system. It also has a green LED light that is labeled OK.
