About the 57C422
The 57C422 is a Servo Controller Module that was initially designed and mass-produced by Reliance Electric. There is a strong probability that this device was also produced and sold by Asea Brown Boveri and Baldor Reliance. It all depends on what the years were that this part was actually in production.
Reliance Electric created the 57C422 as a 2-Axis servo module to be used with an AutoMax Multibus system I/O. This system has the ability to maintain a direct bus interface to an AutoMax or DCS 5000 processor. So that the system can keep total control over its dual-axis, it must use a digital motion controller and maintain an 80186 (or equivalent) microprocessor. The current types do not matter because this system can be used to maintain the management of both AC and DC servo amplifiers and drive systems. This system also has an onboard watchdog system that is used to interlock a relay in the drive-enabled electrical system.
The 57C422 has a bank of 8 LEDs labeled X HOME, X+OTRAV, X-OTRAV, X FAULT, X F.REG, X G.REG, X ENABLE, and X SP. It also has a bank of 4 LEDs labeled STAT 3, STAT 2, STAT 1, and DRAG. It has a large green LED labeled OK. Under that is another bank of 8 LEDs labeled Y HOME, Y+OTRAV, Y-OTRAV, Y FAULT, Y F. REG, Y G.REG, Y ENABLE, and Y SP. Under the LEDs, this module has two RS-232 female connection ports that are labeled X and Y.
