About the 57C423
The 57C423 is a Common Memory Module created by Reliance Electric. There is a possibility that it could have also been manufactured by Asea Brown Boveri or Baldor Reliance as well, depending on what years it was in production. This memory card is no longer being supported by the original manufacturers. AX Control does attempt to keep this item in stock as a refurbished or new surplus part.
The 57C423 is a 128K Memory Card that was used with AutoMax Systems. This card is an optional system upgrade unless you have more than one Processor installed on a storage rack. This module helps to facilitate communication between the processors on the same rack, using a Multibus P1 bus. This is an optional feature. Your processors do not have to communicate, but the module will still link them so that they can share the bus. This system is also used to store a little bit of information from the OS and some of the system configuration tasks are stored on it instead of bogging down the processors. On the side of the module is a single exposed battery. This battery is a backup for the RAM in case the system fails or needs to be reset.
The 57C423 only has two things on its faceplate. There is an LED indicator that reads BAT. OK and one that reads SYSTEM WATCHDOG. The BAT OK indicator will let you know that the battery back up is still good and doesn’t need to be swapped out. The SYSTEM WATCHDOG indicator will let you know when the processor module has failed.
